Duties & Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
+ Preparing and designing the roadway portion of plans and estimates on complex transportation projects.
+ Preparing and designing all portions of plans and estimates on smaller maintenance projects.
+ Directing the activities of other designers.
+ Providing technical expertise on maintenance concerns, design issues, long and short term needs.
+ Reviewing statewide transportation improvement program project plans and coordinating with technical experts to design maintenance projects.
+ Preparing project specifications and official engineer's schedule.
+ Coordinating project design and specifications activities with agency staff.
+ Covering for the design team supervisor in their absence.
Working Conditions
+ Work is primarily performed in the office with extensive use of personal computer.
+ Long hours may be required, including some evening meetings.
+ Competing demands, tight time schedules, and simultaneous projects with overlapping deadlines.
+ Periodic work outdoors at project sites working in inclement weather conditions that includes walking on rough terrain, stooping or bending around structures or equipment, and working 20 feet or more above ground or water is required.
+ Regular travel within the region is required.
Qualifications, Required & Requested Skills
Minimum Qualifications
You will need:
+ A valid professional engineer's (PE) license in civil, structural, or transportation-related engineering.

Underfill Qualifications
+ Completion of and passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and
+ One year of experience applying professional engineering theory, principles and methods
Special Qualifications
+ Driving is an essential function of this position. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s).
+ To be eligible for the associate in engineering 2 under-fill option, a candidate must have his/her valid professional engineer's license in hand (the ability to stamp) within six months of hire. As the PE exam is offered twice a year, in most cases, this will mean applicants must have already met all PE licensing requirements (e.g. completed required education and training, passed the FE and PE exams, etc.) and submitted their complete PE license application to the PE licensing body

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
